Bodegas Terras Gauda, Albariño 'Abadia de San Campio'

£14.95  / Bottle
Albariño, the traditional white grape of the Rias Baixas region in Galicia, was 'rediscovered' in the 1980s and some really interesting and high quality wines started to be produced from it.

Bodegas Terras Gauda are one of the top producers in the region and the grapes for this wine were selected from one of their highest vineyards where humidity is lower, temperatures are cooler and ripening takes much longer. This produces an exceptionally fresh, intense and aromatic wine. It's superbly balanced, with notes of apple, pear and citrus which develop into a refreshing and persistent finish. Really delicious and a firm favourite here at Red & White!

Awards and Press
"Fermented in stainless steel. Aromatic, open nose shows citrus, pineapple and pear fruit. Quite forward. The palate is full and ripe with nice fruity character (citrus, pear, melon) and a pure, fresh personality. 90/100"
Jamie Goode, Wineanorak.com

"This cuvée is 100% Albariño, picked in early October. It has a bright, fruity nose with a touch of pear drop, but then a more interesting peach and nectarine fruit character though a little less of the mineral and grippy fruit-skin character of the O Rosal. Fresh and tangy on the palate, it suggests big yellow apples, waxy lemons and grapefruit, with a little bit of phenolic grip but a clean, very fresh finish. 89/100"
Tom Cannavan, Winepages.com

Food Matches
Galicia faces the Atlantic and is famous for it's fish and shellfish so it's no surprise that Albariño works brilliantly with seafood. The refreshing acidity particularly complements oily fish such as mackerel, sardines, anchovies, fresh tuna and crab.
