Gevrey Chambertin 'Clos Prieur', Domaine Rossignol Trapet 2009
"Clos-Prieur” was a walled vineyard surrounded by dry stone walls belonging to the Abbot of the powerful Abbey de Bèze, situated about 50 km north of Gevrey Chambertin.
The parcel of "Clos Prieur” is situated just below the Grand Cru Mazis Chambertin.
The ground is definitely clay and limestone and the gentle slope produces a wine which is tightly structured, full bodied with spicy, liquorice notes.
Domaine Rossignol-Trapet has 0,25 ha of this vineyard, vines aged 25 years and its exceptionnal position has led to its classification as a Premier Cru.
The vineyard is planted exclusively with pinot noir with a density of 12 500 vines per hectare.
