RED&WHITE rocks Bristol at launch event....
RED&WHITE treat Bristolian's to a festive feast of Wine, Food and Shanties

Last night, we held our inaugural Bristol event at the Red Lion Wine House. Over 50 new friends turned out to support us, which was wonderful. We would really like to say thank you to the people who helped us with the event. Firstly, Castellano's (http://www.castellanos.co.uk), who provided us with the most beautiful Charcuterie. And The Red Lion Wine House (http://www.redlionwinehouse.com) who helped host the event at short notice. Thanks guys!
We had 50 wines open to taste, all of which were showing really well. A mix of classic 'customer favourites', '5 Sauvignon Blancs', and 'Reds you'd be crazy not to buy'. Here are a few of everybody's favourites from the event. The 'Mountain' by Telmo Rodriguez, with its racy acidity, fresh lemon juice aromas and wonderful minerality, seemed to be the White of the evening. The Las Manitos Pinot Noir seemed to be the 'find' of the evening due to its brilliant value for money, and the Cal Pla Tinto from Priorat was most definitely LOVED by all, due to its soft, supple texture, wonderful earth, leather characters and purity of ripe fruit flavours.
Let us know if you'd like some!

Wine School starts to take shape.
Lease agreement on Lecture Room secured, RED&WHITE Wine School looks to open to students from the 1st February 2013.
Today we agreed the lease agreement on the new lecture room for the RED&WHITE Wine School, which aims to open its doors on the 1st February 2013. A fantastic large space, right in the heart of Clifton Village, it is central, and easy to access from outside of the city.
It has been rather a large commitment, but we feel that to get this school right, a plush, dedicated classroom is absolutely necessary. Full details on all the courses will be available at the beginning of December.

Winestock in Antigua
Liam is in Antigua this week preparing for WINESTOCK ANTIGUA on Sunday 25th November. Its a tough job....but someone has to do it!
I feel rather lucky to be in Antigua this week, working with the wonderful Nonsuch Bay Resort (@nonsuchbay) as we prepare for the sunniest WINESTOCK so far! WINESTOCK has become legendary in South Devon, our fantastic Food and Wine Festival being one of the fastest selling events of the year. I decided to take it to the Caribbean this year and help them showcase the wonderful Food and Wine available on the island of Antigua.
Pictures and a full report of the event will be available next week.

BEN AUSTIN JOINS RED&WHITE
Ben Austin, Head Sommelier at Hotel du Vin, joins RED&WHITE as Sales and Marketing Manager.
RED&WHITE is delighted to announce the arrival of Ben Austin, who joins the company at the beginning of November to manage the Sales and Marketing team. Ben is an audacious talent within the wine trade, that he has worked in for the last six years. Ben is currently the Head Sommelier at Hotel du Vin in Bristol, where he has built an impressive reputation for his product knowledge and professional attitude. The Sommelier role within such a respected business has given Ben an excellent understanding of the needs and wants of the Hotel and Restaurant customer, and allowed him to build on this knowledge and the industry that began in his previous role as Account Manager for Majestic Wines.
Ben, is currently studying for his WSET Diploma. His understanding of social media, has made him a very popular blogger and tweeter (@benaustinwine) as well a respected columnist for a number of local and national trade press publications.
Ben says about taking the role: ‘When the opportunity arose to work with Liam at RED&WHITE I couldn't resist. To join this youthful, vibrant company and to help grow it was something that sounded fantastic to me. I enjoyed my time at Hotel du Vin and wish them all the best for the future, but for now, it's onwards and upwards!’
Having only recently opened the Bristol arm of RED&WHITE, which now offices in Clifton Village complimenting the business in South Devon, this is an extremely exciting development, and gives fantastic credence to our desire to cement ourselves as the South West leading Independent Wine Merchant.
