The Tasting Table
There is a reason for the smile; Liam spends a ridiculous amount of time tasting wine! Our tasting table sees a vast amount of samples pass over it, and under Liam's expert eye (he is one of only 255 Masters of Wine in the world). Its amazes us how many wines don't succeed onto our list, Liam likes to get it right, and the quality of the wines he does select is what makes the company successful.
These are some of the wines that have recently turned the smile into a grin, wines that really stand out. Liam likes his classics, but he also loves those individuals who strive for something new and exciting, those quirky, smaller producers that make drinking wine more interesting.
Liam's tasting notes on each of the wines are included, as quite often these wines are one off parcels and therefore do not get included in our main list.
The prices below are bottle prices only. There is no minimum order we simply charge £10 delivery per order, orders over £250 are delivered free.

Aged for 18 Months in American oak casks, this is a terrific, classically structured Rioja. Dark ruby red with amber glints, very pronounced fig and nut oak bouquet. 'Le Belle Ange' Chardonnay, Domaine Begude, Vin de Pays d'Oc
This wine completely bowled us over, such is the value for money in the glass. Clean and crisp, yet with enough honeyed weight to make it really quite complex, is can be served confidently as a stylish aperitif or as a fantastic partner to seafood & light white meat dishes. Not dissimilar to good quality Macon - just at half the price!

Pinot Rose, Domaine Begude, Vin de Pays d'Oc
Sancerre Rose, our best selling wine over £8 was open next to this and everyone preferred this wine. So elegant and refind, with cranberry notes fleshing out the grippy palate. Perfect summer quaffing, of course, but also delicious with fish dishes and salads. A real RED&WHITE favourite, and if the sun would shine, we would be drinking lots of this!

'Limoux' Chardonnay, Domaine Begude
Begude is one of the finest winemaking operations we have discovered, and as with all good things, it came by chance. This Chardonnay is the pick of the bunch. Reminiscent of a very smart Chablis, it’s a fiver less than you’d expect something this beautiful to cost.
